Three persons were arrested in connection with an alleged sexual assault on a woman IT sector employee at a party in Kolkata’s New Town area, police said.
A special investigation team (SIT) under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Manav Singh has been formed to investigate the case, officials said.
A case under Sections 364-A (kidnapping for ransom), 302 (murder), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code was registered, the police said, adding that they were yet to add sections of rape.
It was claimed that the complainant and her colleagues gathered at a flat for a party on Friday night. She alleged that she was sexually assaulted after she was made to have a drink that was spiked.
The three accused — all IT sector employees — were arrested after the woman lodged a complaint of rape at the police station concerned on Saturday.
