IIT Kharagpur on Tuesday launched a Platinum Jubilee Special Drive to strengthen innovation and research through its new Research Park at Rajarhat, Kolkata.

The drive, announced as part of the institute’s 75th-year celebrations, is designed to deepen collaboration between academia, industry, researchers and entrepreneurs and to accelerate the translation of ideas into technologies and products for the benefit of the society.

Located in Rajarhat’s growing innovation hub, the Research Park will act as a bridge between the institute and industry partners.

It aims to foster joint work in priority areas such as artificial intelligence, clean energy, healthcare, climate resilience, green transportation and smart manufacturing, officials said.

Prof. Suman Chakraborty, Director of IIT Kharagpur, described the Research Park as a new phase of growth for the institute. “The IIT Kharagpur Research Park at Rajarhat is envisioned as a vibrant crucible where ideas evolve into solutions with real-world impact,” he said.

“Through this Platinum Jubilee Drive, we are inviting our extended family,  faculty, students, and our powerful global alumni network, to co-create the next generation of technologies and enterprises that will define India’s innovation future. This is not merely an expansion, it is a transformation,” Prof Chakraborty said.

The initiative invites participation from faculty, students, alumni and industry.
