Mother locks 7-year-old twins at home,goes to Ranchi

SEVEN-YEAR-OLD twins,who were left in their home alone by their mother as she went to Ranchi to bring her college-going daughter from hostel,have been rescued by police and sent to a child welfare home by a Nadia district court.

The mother,Anu Adhikari,locked Jessy and Gracy locked at home at Don Boscopara in Ranaghat on May 19 before leaving for Jharkhand,said police. After neighbours noticed the twins crying from the window on Tuesday,they informed the police,who broke open the door and rescued them.

Police found there was little food at home and that the twins were ill. They were taken to Anulia Hospital before being produced at a local court today. The court sent them to a welfare home.
