The police recovered the body of a 20-year-old Jadavpur University engineering student from Ramgarh lake in Netajinagar area of Kolkata on Wednesday. Sources said the deceased, Souvik Chandra of Madhyamgram Chowmatha, allegedly drowned while bathing.
“He was a student of Production Engineering at Jadavpur University, and was residing at a hostel in Bijoygarh. He somehow drowned in Ramgarh Lake while bathing. Locals fished out his body, and it was taken to Baghajatin State General Hospital with the help of police who reached the spot immediately. No external injury marks were found on the body. Investigation is on,” said an official.
According to sources, Chandra was a football lover, and after playing football, he would regularly take a bath with his friend in the lake. After the incident, police lodged an unnatural death case, and three of his friends were detained.
