A-G resigns, second to quit post under Mamata rule

Chatterjee was appointed the state AG in Feb 2013, after Anindya Mitra, another barrister, had put in his papers.

West Bengal Advocate-General Bimal Chatterjee Friday resigned on health grounds, becoming the second law officer to put in his papers during the current government.

“I have sent my resignation letter to the Governor and sent copies of it to the Chief Minister and state Law Minister,” Chatterjee said.
Asked about the reason for his resignation, he said, “I have not been keeping well for sometime. As such I have resigned on health grounds.”

Chatterjee was appointed the state Advocate General in February 2013, after Anindya Mitra, another barrister, had put in his papers.
Mitra was appointed the state’s Advocate General by the Trinamool Congress government after it came to power in May 2011.
