After a youth was allegedly beaten to death for opposing a group of drunkards who were creating a public nuisance on Sunday night, there has been tension in the Bakultala area of Jaynagar in South 24 Parganas district. Police have registered an FIR against 13 people and arrested two of them.

According to police sources, Sayem Khan intervened when a group of intoxicated men in Buichbati, a locality in Bakultala, allegedly used obscene language and behaved indecently in public. Residents said the men assaulted Khan, who later died of his injuries while being taken to a Kolkata hospital.
