Y S Vivekananda Reddy murder case: Telangana HC grants anticipatory bail to Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy

The MP’s lawyers argued in court that the CBI was relying on just one witness, an accused-turned-approver, to charge the MP in the case. Avinash told the court that except for the statement of the approver, the CBI did not present any other proof against him or his father, Y S Bhaskar Reddy, who is in judicial custody after being arrested by the CBI in the same case on April 16.

Avinash had filed anticipatory bail petitions in the high court as well as the Supreme Court.

After the CBI issued summons on May 16, Avinash cited the pending anticipatory bail petition in the Supreme Court. The CBI issued another summons on May 19. On May 20, Avinash sent a message to CBI Additional Superintendent Mukesh Sharma pleading his inability to appear as his mother was unwell. He said that as his father was in judicial custody and he was the only son, he had to take care of his mother.

On May 21, Avinash admitted his mother at Vishwabharathi Super Speciality Hospital at Gayatri Estates in Kurnool, stating that she was suffering from a heart ailment. On May 26, he moved his mother to a super speciality hospital in Hyderabad for better treatment even as the Telangana High Court posted his bail petition for hearing Wednesday.

The CBI has accused Avinash and his father of hatching a conspiracy to kill Vivekananda, erase the evidence and shelter the accused.
