A 25-year-old woman was found murdered in the Dabri area of Southwest Delhi on Thursday. A man,allegedly her lover,was also found in a critical state. Both had been stabbed several times,the police said.
The incident was reported at 10 am and the police said the deceased,Poonam,was at home when her alleged lover,Pintu,came to meet her. The police are yet to establish whether Pintu first murdered Poonam and then attempted suicide or a third person attempted to murder them both. Poonams husband,Munna,who allegedly found the two and raised an alarm,has been detained for questioning. He told the landlord,who called the police.
We rushed the severely bleeding victims to Safdarjung Hospital,where Poonam was declared dead on arrival. Pintu is still in a critical state and has been declared unfit to make a statement, a senior police officer said.
Munna,who works in the export-import company just below their house,told the police he was in office when Pintu arrived and he saw him going upstairs. He found Poonam and Pintu when he went up sometime later. He has alleged that Pintu might have first murdered his wife and then attempted suicide.
Investigations have revealed that about one and a half years ago,when Poonam and Munna live in Janakpuri,Pintu was their neighbour. Munna,who suspected an affair between them,then shifted to Dabri with his wife.
A case of murder and attempt to murder against unknown people has been registered at the Dabri police station and further investigations are on.
