Woman, 24, dies after falling off roller coaster at amusement park in Delhi

The Southwest Delhi police said a case was registered for negligence and culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

A  24-year-old woman died allegedly after falling off a roller coaster at an amusement park in Southwest Delhi’s Kapashera area on Friday, said police, adding that a case has been filed.

The deceased was identified as Priyanka Rawat. The body was handed over to her family after a post-mortem, said officers.

According to the Kapashera Police, Priyanka, along with her fiance Nikhil, went to the amusement park on Friday evening. “In his statement, Nikhil said they took the roller coaster ride at approximately 6.15 pm. As the ride started, Priyanka fell off, resulting in critical injuries,” said Surendra Choudhary, DCP (Southwest).

Even as she was rushed to Manipal Hospital, Priyanka was declared dead on arrival, said police.

As per the medico-legal case (MLC) report received by the police from the hospital, the body had visible injuries, including an ENT bleed, a lacerated wound on the right leg, a puncture wound on the left leg, and multiple abrasions on the right forearm and left knee.

Following a preliminary inquiry, a first information report (FIR) was registered under sections 289 and 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), dealing with negligent conduct with respect to machinery and culpable homicide not amounting to murder, respectively.
