The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) recently issued a warning about potential water shortages in several areas of the national capital in the coming days due to routine maintenance work. The maintenance work involves cleaning underground reservoirs and booster pumping stations, although officials assured that the impact of water disruptions would be minimal.
Janakpuri, Vikas Puri, Budella, Vasundhara Enclave, New Ashok Nagar, Shalimar Bagh, Pitampur, Paschim Vihar, Kirti Nagar, and Ramesh Nagar are some of the areas that could be affected on Saturday (February 15), as per the DJB. Water tankers will be available on request from the DJB’s emergency rooms.
Janakpuri and Vikaspuri can again face disruptions on February 17. Other areas that may also be affected on February 17 include Dilshad Garden, Mayur Vihar, Punjabi Bagh, Jasola Vihar, and Sarita Vihar.
“It is only routine maintenance for the purpose of cleaning the underground reservoir. It won’t cause any major issues. To address water-related complaints, residents can contact the area joint engineer who will be available to assist immediately,” said S K Sharma, Joint Director (South/Southwest), DJB.
