The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has informed consumers that the annual task of flushing the underground reservoir and booster pumping station will affect the water supply on January 6 and 7 in some areas and has asked residents to store sufficient water.

The city has been facing a prolonged shortage of water this summer with the Yamuna drying up in some parts. The DJB had issued a similar notice on June 9 stating that water will be available at low pressure from June 10 onwards, till sufficient raw water is available.

The water supply is likely to be affected in areas under the NDMC, parts of South Delhi and Delhi Cantonment, and parts of North Delhi including Kamla Nagar, Shakti Nagar, and Civil Lines.

The DJB has once again requested the Haryana Irrigation Department to supply 150 cusecs of additional water “till the arrival of monsoon, when sufficient raw water is available in River Yamuna”.
