The residents of Greater Noida West will soon be relieved of traffic jams, Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) officials said Tuesday. They said that along with the construction of the underpass at Char Murti Chowk, GNIDA will also begin repairing the service road between Char Murti Chowk and Tigdi roundabout.

“The authority will widen the service road as well as get it repaired. The decision has been taken on the instructions of the CEO of Greater Noida Authority, N G Ravi Kumar,” said Additional CEO Sumit Yadav.

ACEO Yadav said there is more traffic pressure on the service road between Char Murti Chowk and Tigdi Rotary, which is 60 metres wide.

“Keeping this in mind, there is a plan to widen the service road to 10.50 metres from the existing 5.50 metres. Once the service road is widened, the movement of vehicles will become easier,” Yadav said.

He also said there was some construction work on the underpass also ongoing at Char Murti Chowk. “Once this construction work is completed, the traffic problem at the intersection will also end,” the ACEO said.

He said the traffic diversion was necessary due to ongoing construction of the underpass. Also, the narrow culvert of the service road near Gaur City 1 contributed to increased traffic congestion, he added.

“We will broaden this culvert as well. At present, this culvert is 5.50 metres wide. There is a preparation to widen it to 10.50 metres and the work of widening the culvert has also started,” said Yadav.

Officials said they visited the areas surrounding Gaur City and instructed to promptly fill the potholes on the existing roads.

“Work has begun on the resurfacing of the service road along the 60-metre-wide road between Char Murti Chowk and Tigdi roundabout. The tender process is currently underway. These improvements will help reduce traffic congestion on the service road between the 60-metre area and Gaur City 1 and 2. As a result, vehicle movement will become smoother,” said an official.
