Six more transport staff suspended, this time for graft

Two days after he suspended 20 DTC drivers for failing to report to work without notice, Transport Minister Gopal Rai on Tuesday suspended six transport department employees on charge of corruption.

According to officials, five out of the six employees suspended belong to the enforcement wing of the transport department while one is a DTC driver. “These six were found involved in corrupt practices at Azadpur flyover during a surprise check by the minister on May 1. They were found collecting bribes from truck drivers,” a government official said. The six are ASI Vijay Kumar, ASI Babu Ram, head constables Pramod Kumar, Jaiveer and Jitendra Kumar and DTC driver Praveen.
