R K Pachauri sexual harassment case: Delhi court directs police to complete investigation by July 17

Pachauri has moved the Delhi court seeking modification of its March 21 order which had granted him protection from arrest on the condition that he would not enter the TERI office till the investigation is complete.

A Delhi court has directed the Delhi police to complete its investigation in the alleged sexual harassment case against TERI Director General R K Pachauri by July 17, after Pachauri moved the court seeking modification of its March 21 order which had earlier granted him protection from arrest on the condition that Pachauri would not enter in the office of TERI till the investigation is complete.

The Delhi court has now ordered the police to examine the material witnesses in the case and postponed the hearing Pachauri’s plea seeking to enter TERI office for final disposal on JULY 17. Pachauri, who is presently on leave, had earlier moved the Delhi sessions court seeking modification of the court’s earlier order – to the extent that he be permitted to resume his work in TERI premises. Pachauri has sought modification of the court’s order on the grounds that the complainant is not posted at TERI premises and hence there shall be no occasion of him “contacting or attempting to influence or threaten” the complainant. He has further stated that, “because there is no evidence whether documentary or oral which the police is required to collect from the TERI premises”.
