Not invited to Tuesday’s all-party meeting on the Bangladesh crisis despite being a national party, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) criticised the central government for its “omission”.

The meeting was attended by leaders of national parties and was convened to discuss national security concerns in light of the Bangladesh crisis.

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said national security transcends partisan preferences and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to adopt an inclusive approach. “When it is a matter of national security, it cannot depend on which party the PM is happy or unhappy with… the Prime Minister has to take everyone along. In such a situation, not inviting a national party like the AAP, which has 3 MPs in Lok Sabha and 10 MPs in Rajya Sabha, to the all-party meeting shows the non-seriousness of the central government and its petty mentality,” he stated.
