In six villages alone, 9,361 families are expected to be displaced as a result of the land acquisition.
Days after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath increased the compensation to be paid to farmers for land acquisition to build the third phase of Jewar airport from Rs 3,100 per sq m to Rs 4,300 per sq m, officials on Monday said that 42,433 people would be eligible for the compensation.
“The revised compensation rate will smoothen the acquisition process and keep it on schedule. We have already begun preparations to conduct a social impact assessment and will soon compile a list of affected farmers. This will encourage farmers to release their land for the project,” said Arun Veer Singh, Chief Executive Officer of the Noida International Airport coming up in Jewar, which is set to become operational in April 2025.
