Maximum temperature in the Capital dropped to its lowest in 17 days as heavy rains lashed several parts of Delhi-NCR on Sunday.
The maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 31 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal, at the Safdarjung base station. The minimum temperature was recorded at 26 degrees Celsius, a notch below normal.
Instances of traffic snarls, waterlogging and tree-falling were reported while Delhi airport saw three flight diversions, officials said.
An official said three flights of Air India were diverted, two to Jaipur and one to Lucknow between 9.45 am and 11.15 am, the official added.
Safdarjung station logged 26.6 mm, SPS Mayur Vihar 57 mm, Palam 38.7 mm, Lodhi Road 30.8 mm, Ridge 2.6 mm, Aya Nagar 49.4 mm, Delhi University 4 mm, Pusa 5.5 mm, Najafgarh 25 mm, Pitampura 6.5 mm, and Narela 0 mm of rainfall between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm, as per data by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
According to Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) officials, the Central Control Room received 12 complaints of waterlogging, including those from Rohini Zone, West Zone, Civil Lines Zone, Najafgarh Zone, Karol Bagh Zone, and Keshavpuram Zone as on 6 pm. Besides, 15 instances of tree-falling were reported at Greater Kailash, Kamla Nagar, Uttam Nagar, Madipur Colony, Mandawali, Sham Nath Marg, Mundka, Kalkaji, DTC Colony, Uttam Nagar, Hari Nagar, Rajouri Garden, Kingsway Camp and Rohini.
The Delhi Traffic Police issued several traffic alerts due to waterlogging.
The IMD has sounded a yellow alert (be aware) for Monday.
