First suspected dengue death in Delhi: A 10-yr-old from Manipur

The patient was suffering from high fever for almost a week but was not given proper medication, according to a senior doctor at AIIMS.

In the first suspected case of dengue death in Delhi this season, a 10-year-old girl from Manipur, who had been suffering from high fever, passed away at AIIMS on Wednesday.

Florence Romuonpoi Hrangchal, a resident of South Delhi who had reportedly been suffering from high fever for the last one week, was declared dead by doctors, sources said. Florence was diagnosed with dengue hemorrhagic fever. Doctors also found internal bleeding due to fall in platelets, a symptom associated with dengue.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi, however, claimed that it had not received any notification about the death yet.

As many as 40 cases of dengue have been reported in Delhi till July 25 this year, whereas only 16 such cases had been reported in the same time span last year. Over 23 dengue cases have been reported in July, with 11 cases diagnosed last week.
