India Against Corruption (IAC) activist Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday conducted a public rally in Matiala Assembly constituency,Southwest Delhi,to protest against the increase in power tariff. An IAC statement said residents of Matiala had organised the rally in support the groups bijli-paani satyagraha. We will continue to challenge the government till the rates are reduced, the statement quoted Kejriwal.
Bomb scare at Chandni Chowk Metro station
New Delhi: An extensive check was carried out at the Chandni Chowk Metro station after a call was received on Saturday saying a bomb was planted in the station. After a thorough check,police declared the call to be a hoax. We received a call around 3pm and,immediately,the CISF personnel searched the entire station and found the call to be a hoax, Delhi Metro spokesperson Anuj Dayal said. Services were suspended for about 10 minutes at the station,Dayal said.
One more arrested for Defence Colony heist
New Delhi: One more accused in the Defence Colony heist was arrested on Saturday. Police identified the accused as Ranjeet and said a share of the loot amount was recovered from him. The gang had waylaid a bank cash van last month,shot dead a security personnel and made off with Rs 5.25 crore.
Gangster held in West Delhi
New Delhi: A member of an inter-state gang,wanted in several cases of murder,dacoity and burglary,was arrested on Friday. Police said a reward of Rs 25,000 had been announced for the capture of Neeraj alias Seena.
