The Delhi High Court on Friday issued a notice to the Delhi Police in response to former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Singh’s plea seeking an early hearing of his petition that has sought quashing of all criminal proceedings against him.
Taken up before the court of Justice Manoj Ohri, the application will be next considered on December 16. The HC was otherwise due to hear the main plea on January 13, 2025. Singh, in his latest application, is also seeking a stay on the criminal trial before a Delhi court, pending a hearing in the main plea seeking quashing of all proceedings.
Singh has sought the quashing of all criminal proceedings, including the FIR lodged in 2023 and chargesheet accusing him of sexually assaulting six women wrestlers during his tenure.
The 1,500-page chargesheet against Singh for alleged sexual harassment, assault, and stalking of six women wrestlers had included statements of at least 22 witnesses.
