Haryana cop arrested after speeding car hits 3 kids returning from school; 2 dead, 1 critical

According to the police complaint filed by Aas Mohammed, 65, his grandchildren were hit from behind by the SUV, which was allegedly being driven at high speed. The driver fled but was later apprehended by Mohammed’s cousin, Mubarik, approximately 2 km away from the accident spot.

The police identified the driver as Narendra Singh, a resident of Pahadi village in Bahin, Palwal. A Havaldar in the Haryana Police, Singh is currently posted in Nuh district. His medical examination will be held on Tuesday, as it prima facie appears he may have been under the influence of alcohol.

Mohammed rushed the children to Nalhar Hospital, where doctors declared Aayan and Ahsan dead on arrival. Arjan, whose condition was critical, was referred to PGI Rohtak for further treatment.

The Uttawar police registered a First Information Report under sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

When contacted, Mohammed said Singh was in uniform at the time of the incident. “So far, I have not received any further update on the investigation,” he added.

“We will conduct the medical exam. We have seized the car and he (accused) is in our custody,” Mohinder Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Hathin, said.
