The Parsi community of Delhi celebrated Navroz (New Year) at the Mengusi Parsi Dharamshala on Saturday. Arvind Mayaram, secretary, Ministry of Finance, his wife, astrologer Bejan Daruwalla, Congress leader Manish Tewari and former Attorney-General of India Soli Sorabjee were among the prominent guests who attended.
In his welcome speech, Yezad Kapadia, president, Delhi Anjuman, thanked the government for financially supporting ‘Jiyo Parsi’, a scheme to arrest the decline in population of the Parsi Zoroastrian Community in India, and the ‘Everlasting Flame’, under the new scheme ‘Hamari Dharohar’, to preserve the community’s rich heritage.
Dadi E Mistry, patron, Delhi Parsi Anjuman, highlighted the various schemes that the government has undertaken to help the community, such as ‘Jiyo Parsi’, ‘Seekho aur Kamao’ for skill development, ‘Nai Roshni’ for leadership development, and ‘Hamari Dharohar’.
