Delhi: Violent death for shopkeeper

Farzana, who had been married to Shahnawaz for 15 years, kept losing consciousness while Kaif was suffering from high fever and Fahad spent the day replaying his account of his father being beaten to death when his two-wheeler grazed a car in heavy traffic near the Turkman Gate Sunday night.

The family and the neighbourhood is in shock at what came to be a case of brutal murder before dozens of people in the middle of an Old Delhi chowk. “This is so dangerous. Anything can happen here. These criminals have become so audacious now,” said Kamran, a 19 year old local.

Meanwhile, Shahnawaz’s family is trying to come to terms with his sudden death. His mother Noorjehan is worried about the future of his family. “Who will take car of my bahu and who will bring my grandchildren up? Can someone support  them?” she said weeping.

Apart from his wife and kids, Shahnawaz leaves behind his parents Sulaiman and Noorjehan, three brothers and three sisters. His wife and children are living with Shahnwaz’s parents for now.
