Delhi police look for ‘missing’ Home Ministry official, Anand Joshi

His mobile phone had been taken away during the raid Sunday so he is not carrying a phone with him.

On Wednesday morning — hours before he was expected to appear before the CBI in a corruption case — Joshi disappeared from his residence in Indirapuram.

Ghaziabad Police are still looking for Home Ministry Under Secretary Anand Joshi, who went “missing” from his residence Wednesday after leaving behind a note, in which he said he had been facing “mental harassment” for the last few months.

Salmantaj Patil, superintendent of police (city), Ghaziabad, said, “We have not yet been able to find him. His mobile phone had been taken away during the raid Sunday so he is not carrying a phone with him. Investigations are still underway.”

He added that search operations were being conducted in several areas in the district.

“There is a CCTV camera near the gate of his housing society. We are trying to get footage from that but it seems the camera does not cover the area near the gate,” said a police source.

On Wednesday morning — hours before he was expected to appear before the CBI in a corruption case — Joshi disappeared from his residence in Indirapuram. A corruption case against him had been registered Monday by the agency after it conducted searches at Joshi’s residence and office.

In the note he left for his wife, Joshi wrote, “For the last few months, I am undergoing a lot of mental harassment but now it has crossed all limits… I need some peace…”.
