The police on Wednesday arrested a man for the murder of his wife in North East Delhi’s Gokalpuri over alleged marital disputes two days ago.
The police also seized the knife used for the murder and the phone of the woman from the accused, Harsh Goel, 34, who was caught from the Khajuri Khas area.
According to the police, the incident took place on February 17 and by the time their team arrived at the crime scene near Johripur Pulia on Nala Road around 9.15 am, the woman had already been taken to JPC Hospital where she succumbed to stab wounds to her abdomen.
The police examined CCTV footage from the vicinity and gathered inputs from local sources to trace Goel.
“On sustained interrogation, Harsh Goel confessed to the crime and revealed that he committed the murder due to ongoing matrimonial disputes with his wife,” said Ashish Mishra, Deputy Commissioner of Police, North East. . On further inquiry it was also revealed that Goel was previously involved in two cases of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in Tamil Nadu, the officer added.
Authorities at Gokalpuri police station have booked Goel under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
