A man in Delhi’s Narela allegedly killed his 10-year-old son on Tuesday to seek revenge on his wife, who left him with their two children due to his drug and alcohol addiction, police said.

The accused, Narender, called his wife, Komal, and admitted to killing their younger son, officers said.

According to the police, the incident took place in the afternoon when the boy was returning home from school.

“The Narela police station received information regarding the recovery of the body of a 10-year-old boy with visible injury marks on the neck. The boy’s mother called the police control room, saying that Narender had called to say that he had killed their son and dumped his body,” an officer said.

The officer added that the couple used to have frequent fights due to Narender’s alcohol and drug addiction. Narender, a plumber, had also allegedly physically abused Komal on multiple occasions.

“Komal moved out with her two children and began living in Om Vihar Colony in Narela, which angered Narender even more… He pleaded with her to return and even threatened her multiple times,” the officer said.

“On Tuesday, when his son was returning from school, Narender took him away on the pretext of getting him ice cream. He then took him to an undisclosed location and strangled him to death… He then called Komal to say that he killed their son because she was not coming back to him,” the officer further said.

Komal’s nephew, Paramjeet (21), said, “They started living separately in June. He would beat my aunt and threaten to kill the children. He was always intoxicated. That’s why we brought my aunt to our place.”

Narender, who is absconding, has been booked under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
