The Delhi Police Friday arrested a 21-year-old man for allegedly posting a hoax threat alert regarding the G20 Summit, officers said.

The police have identified the arrested as Kuldeep Shah.

DCP (Outer North) Ravi Kumar Singh said that a post was made on X (formerly Twitter) from the handle of one Kuldeep Shah, claiming that an autorickshaw driver was carrying guns and explosives in his vehicle to Pragati Maidan, where the global summit is being held.

Police traced the auto driver whose vehicle is registered in his brother’s name.

The auto was checked thoroughly and no suspicious object was identified, said Singh.

The auto driver told the police that he was having disputes with a person, Kuldeep, who resides in the same street over the parking of his auto.

Subsequently, the police visited Kuldeep Shah’s house and on interrogation, he told the police that he had uploaded the fake post as the auto driver had parked the auto outside his house despite warning him several times.

Delhi Police said in a post on X, “Taking swift action on bomb threat hoax in #G20Summit area, #DelhiPolice’s P.S. Bhalswa Dairy team traced the accused and arrested him for spreading false information in public. Legal action is being taken.”
