Delhi Pollution: In the wake of the imposition of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage-3 in Delhi, the Delhi Police has released a list of the type of vehicles allowed into the national capital. Ensure that if you are travelling to or via Delhi, your vehicle meets the requirements. Failure to comply with the rules may invite penalty for you.
GRAP-3 refers to a 9-point action plan implemented to bring down pollution. The GRAP-3 restrictions were imposed in Delhi on Tuesday, owing to the deteriorating air quality. On Wednesday morning, the air quality plummeted to the ‘hazardous’ category, with the air quality index (AQI) reading 667 at 6 am in the morning.
“Considering the ongoing trend in air quality and to prevent further decline, the sub-committee has decided to implement all measures under Stage III of GRAP – ‘Severe’ air quality (Delhi AQI between 401 and 450) – with immediate effect across the NCR,” a statement from the (Commission for Air Quality Management) CAQM on Tuesday read.
Apart from restrictions on construction and infrastructure works, GRAP-3 involves restrictions on vehicles in Delhi as well.
