To improve administrative coordination, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday said the government will reorganise the boundaries of the 11 districts of the Capital in accordance with the 12 Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) zones.

Calling it a significant step towards good governance, Gupta said the government is determined to resolve people’s problems promptly and effectively. She said so while inaugurating the office of chairman of the North Delhi District Development Committee in Alipur.

Underlining that the government is taking measures to address concerns of the people, Gupta said, “As part of this effort, all 11 revenue districts will be reorganised in accordance with the 12 municipal zones. This will maintain coordination, eliminate jurisdictional disputes, and ensure timely resolution of grievances.”

“Currently, in many areas, the revenue district and MCD zone boundaries do not align. Due to the jurisdiction issue, people face issues in getting any work done. For instance, if a person living in Mayur Vihar needs to get any land-related work done in Shahdara, the MCD zone might fall in Shahdara but the revenue district will be East… he would end up running from one office to another,” an official said.

Gupta also announced that to make governance more transparent and citizen-centric, ‘Mini Secretariats’ are being set up in all 11 districts. Officials said that under this, all the district-related services could be availed from one place, with the district magistrate being in charge.

The CM said people can freely approach DM offices and leave with their concerns resolved. “This is the pledge and commitment of my government,” she added.
