A 30-year-old man was stabbed to death on Monday allegedly by his neighbours who were angry as they were not invited for the victim’s younger brother’s wedding,in Mangolpuri area of Outer Delhi.

New Delhi: A 30-year-old man was stabbed to death on Monday allegedly by his neighbours who were angry as they were not invited for the victim’s younger brother’s wedding,in Mangolpuri area of Outer Delhi. The family of the victim,Mohammed Shakir,informed the police. “Shakir’s younger brother Mohammed Asif got married on March 2. On Monday night,the two brothers were returning to their Y-Block residence,when four persons stopped them. Eyewitnesses told us that there was an argument between them and Shakir was stabbed,” said a police officer. In his statement to police,Asif identified the four assailants as his neighbours — Salman,Javed,Manzar and Samar. They are absconding. Two police constables — Ram Chander and Raj Kumar — from Mangolpuri police station have been suspended for allegedly taking the case lightly when Shakir’s family had approached them following the fight on the wedding day.

Power supply in city to be affected

New Delhi: Due to a planned augmentation activity by Delhi Transco Limited at their 220-KV grid sub-station at Najafgarh,West Delhi,power supply is likely to be affected from March 20 to 28 in two time-slots — from 7 am to 9 am and from 7 pm to 9 pm. The areas likely to be affected include: Sainik Enclave,Shiv Enclave,Agrawal Colony,Ekta Vihar,Surya Kunj,Jharoda Village,Dharam Pura and Rajni Enclave in Prem Vihar.

Supreme Court lawyer’s house burgled

NEW DELHI: Burglars targeted the house of a Supreme Court lawyer and decamped with cash and jewellery worth around Rs 50 lakh on Monday night. Lawyer Manjit Singh lives with his family on Abul Fazal Road in Bengali Market. Singh told police that jewellery worth Rs 40 lakh and around Rs 8 lakh in cash were missing.

Man found dead in Malviya Nagar slum

NEW DELHI: A 60-year-old man was found dead in his Malviya Nagar jhuggi on Tuesday. Shaukat Ali used to work as a security guard in the area. A beat constable found the body in Ali’s house and made a PCR call. “Ali’s throat had been slit with a sharp object,” a police officer said.

DDA draw: 175 plots allotted to farmers

NEW DELHI: A draw of lots for allotment of alternative plots to the farmers,whose land had been acquired for the planned development of Rohini,was held at Vikas Sadan on Tuesday. A total number of 175 plots were allotted to the farmers who were recommended to DDA by the government’s Land and Building department. The result of the draw is displayed on the Vikas sadan notice board and on the DDA website.
