A 16-year-old government school student died allegedly by suicide at the Faridabad New Town railway station on Friday afternoon, police said.
A Class 7 student, the boy allegedly had an argument with his mother earlier in the day, according to preliminary investigations.
“No suicide note has been found yet,” Government Railway Police (GRP) DSP Rajesh Kumar Chechi said.
Police said that eyewitnesses reported seeing the boy sitting near the tracks around 11.30 am. He did not allegedly speak to anyone when asked what he was doing there.
Officers said the boy, hailing from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh, stayed with his family in the Ram Nagar Colony. While his father is a driver, he had three younger sisters. The body has been sent for postmortem examination and the report is awaited, they added.
The incident halted a shuttle train headed towards Delhi for around 45 minutes, said police.
