Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Wednesday slammed Madhya Pradesh minister Kunwar Vijay Shah for his alleged remarks referring to Indian Army officer Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, and said he “should be removed from the Cabinet and arrested”.
“BJP minister Vijay Shah has insulted the Indian Army. This is the reality of the BJP. Narendra Modi’s party cannot unite the country — it can break it, but not unite it,” Singh said.
Shah, the Madhya Pradesh tribal affairs minister, courted controversy after saying at an event that India has taught a lesson to those responsible for the Pahalgam terror attack using “their own sister”. Though he did not name any individual, the Congress alleged he was alluding to Colonel Qureshi, who had briefed the media when Operation Sindoor was underway. Shah later issued a public apology.
“You are calling an Indian Army officer the sister of Pakistani terrorists — can there be a bigger insult than this? And he is not just anyone — he is a minister who took the oath on the Constitution,” Singh said on Wednesday, condemning Shah’s remarks. “Sofiya Qureshi is a brave daughter of the Bharatiya Sena, a brave daughter of the country,” he added.
Demanding accountability from PM Modi, Singh said, “Narendra Modi should apologise to the whole country, and Shah should be removed from the cabinet and arrested.”
Singh also raised the issue of online abuse directed at Himanshi Narwal, the widow of naval officer Lt Vinay Narwal, who was killed in the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. “Such filth, such vulgarity, such shameful things have been said about Himanshi Narwal, the wife of a lieutenant. BJP and those associated with it are trolling and abusing her. Is this what you are thinking? Is this your behaviour?” he questioned.

Meanwhile, the AAP organised a protest in Delhi’s Karol Bagh against “Modi’s betrayal of the nation” and for “letting go of the golden opportunity to integrate PoK back into India”.
