Attri used dubious means to secure medical college admission, say police

Explaining Attri’s lifestyle, a senior Crime Branch officer said he only wore branded clothes. He always approached his targets with the help of teachers of private coaching centres in Chandigarh and Kota in Rajasthan.

“Attri got an admission at PGIMS, Rohtak, with the help of Choudhary. He gave Choudhary Rs 15 lakh for this. Choudhary purchased some spy cameras from Patel Nagar and helped Attri clear his exam with around 90 marks,” the officer said.

Attri belongs to Nimka village near Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh, police said. His father is a farmer and his elder brother is in the Army. Rs 25-35 lakh from aspirants and approached students in private coaching centres with tall promises. He also paid money to private teachers,” a police source said.

Police said Attri used to pose as a doctor from Rohtak and deploy dummy candidates at the examination centres to scan the question paper through a tiny camera fixed in the button holes of their shirts and relay it back to the “control room”. Subsequently, the answers were sent to the real aspirants through mobile phones and bluetooth-enabled earphones,” the source said.

Attri was on the run after the AIIMS exam paper leak. “He was hiding in a flat in a posh locality of Dwarka. But after around six months, Attri was arrested in a case related to the leaking of the SBI examination paper for clerical posts,” the officer said.

After his arrest, police charged him in AIIMS paper leak case and was sent to Tihar jail.

He got bail after two months.
