Congress’s campaign committee chief Ajay Maken declared total assets worth over Rs 16 crore while filing his nomination, making him ‘richer’ than BJP’s Kiran Bedi and AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal.
The net total of Maken’s assets has increased from Rs 6,10,98,675 — at the time he filed papers for the Lok Sabha elections — to Rs 16,08,00,911. While the value of his movable assets has increased from Rs 3,89,97,275 in 2014 to Rs 4,67,16,086.57, the value of his immovable assets has increased by over Rs 9 crore. In 2014, his immoveable assets were worth
Rs 2,21,01,400. At present, these are worth Rs 11,40,84,825. He has one ongoing case against him.
Bedi has total assets worth Rs 11,36,88,205. While her total movable assets amount to
Rs 3,46,88,205, her immovable assets — which include agricultural land in Pune and Haryana as well as residential properties in Uday Park, Dwarka, Greater Noida and Gurgaon — are worth Rs 7.9 crore. She has no ongoing cases against her.
Kejriwal’s total assets have gone down since the last time he contested the Lok Sabha elections from Varanasi in 2014. He had earlier declared total assets worth Rs 2,13,66,668 but, as per the affidavit he submitted on Wednesday, his total assets are at Rs 2,09,85,366.
Kejriwal and his wife have moveable assets worth Rs 17.85 lakh and immovable assets worth Rs 1.92 crore. He has seven FIRs against him, three of them criminal defamation cases.
