After former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) senior leader and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh has written a letter from behind the bars, saying that his arrest was made to “silence his voice” against the “injustice and corruption” of the BJP-led government at the Centre.
Singh was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on October 4 in connection with the alleged Excise Policy scam.
Taking an aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Singh said, “Arvind Kejriwal’s work has become a thorn in Modi Ji’s eyes. The BJP felt concerned: what will happen if the public starts voting based on education, healthcare, electricity, and water? The AAP neither spreads casteism nor divides society in the name of religion. They focus on the politics of work. That’s why AAP became the target. The BJP adopted the path of suppression, choking all the rights of democracy and the constitution from the Delhi government.” He further said, “If one wants to raise their voice against the ongoing tyranny in the country, they must be prepared for jail, court cases, and batons.”
Singh alleged that he was arrested because he consistently “raised voice against the injustices and corruption of the Modi government”.
The BJP did not respond to the AAP leader’s comments.
