Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Wednesday said that the state has inked agreements worth Rs 3,440 crore at the investors’ conclave held in Spain.

On reaching Chennai airport after his eight-day trip, Stalin told reporters that the state was able to attract foreign investments and termed his journey to Spain ‘rewarding’.

“I explained to them about the favourable investment scenario prevailing in Tamil Nadu and urged them to carry out the investments in the state… Some of the companies such as Roca, Hapag-Llyod, Edibon, Gestamp, Mabtree, etc have expressed their interest to invest in Tamil Nadu,” Stalin said, adding that he held discussions with officials of prominent companies.

“As an outcome of these efforts, MoUs worth Rs 3,440 crore were signed. This shows the confidence and trust the companies have over Tamil Nadu and the DMK government,” Stalin said.

CM Stalin was accorded a welcome by the party’s senior leaders, including T R Baalu, Durai Murugan, E V Velu, K N Nehru and others. He noted that several investors, firms and members of Invest Spain took part in the conclave.

Stalin said the trip to Spain has been useful to project Tamil Nadu as a top industry-friendly state.

CM Stalin also told reporters that after the Lok Sabha elections he would fly to other countries to attract more investments.

When asked about PM Narendra Modi’s recent remarks in Parliament against Congress, CM Stalin said he saw them, read and laughed about it.

“Since the day he (PM Modi) came to power, he has been speaking as if he is the Opposition and Congress is the ruling party, which I don’t understand,” he remarked.

Reacting to actor Vijay’s entry into politics with the launch of a political party and his announcement to contest in 2026 Assembly elections, Chief Minister Stalin said that he would feel happy to see anyone who comes to serve the people.
