To celebrate a decade of Khela Natya Sansthan, Namrata Sharma, recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for acting, has curated a three-day summer theatre festival from May 31 to June 2, with the opening play of the festival being, ‘Ho Rahega Kuch Na Kuch’.
Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for drama, this play explores the relationship between a mother and son and is valued as both a gritty work of fiction and a cautionary tale that has bearing on real life.
Khela was founded ten years ago to bring unconventional scripts, bold themes and experimental productions on stage.
The Anarchist, the second production of the festival is a take on love, sex and choice laced with humour.
The festival ends with New Year’s Eve at a morgue, in which a mysterious incident on New Year’s eve makes the otherwise ordinary, non-happening life of a morgue nurse thrilling and memorable.
All the plays are unique in themes, treatment and production values, says Namrata, who has directed the productions.
