Video of Punjab AAP MLA’s son firing gunshots at a party goes viral; ‘it’s a toy gun’, claims Jiwan Singh Sangowal
Police sources said that the incident happened during a pre-wedding party at Gill village of Ludhiana district a few days ago. Jiwan Singh Sangowal said it was the handiwork of Opposition parties.
Harjinder Singh, Ludhiana Assistant Commissioner of Police (South) said that the MLA’s son has been called for questioning with the weapon seen in the video.

Police sources said that the incident happened during a pre-wedding party at Gill village of Ludhiana district a few days ago. In the video, MLA Sangowal’s elder son Davinder Singh alias Laadi is also seen in attendance with his brother. As Jagpal purportedly fires from the weapon multiple times on the dance floor, his brother, Davinder, then puts his hand on his shoulder and asks him to stop.
Harjinder Singh, Ludhiana Assistant Commissioner of Police (South) said that Jiwan Singh Sangowal’s son has been called for questioning with the weapon seen in the video to verify facts. “We have called him for questioning and to verify details. Action will be taken accordingly,” said the ACP.
MLA Jiwan Singh Sangowal confirmed to The Indian Express that the man seen firing in the video was his son. He, however, claimed that his son Jagpal was firing from a “toy gun.”
“It is the handiwork of Opposition parties, including Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) to defame us. They have made the video viral to defame me, our party and the AAP government. In the video, the weapon from which my son is seen firing is a toy gun, and not an original one. It’s a sort of air gun that children play with on Diwali and is commonly available in homes,” claimed the MLA.
“We will be taking legal action against those who are defaming me,” said Jiwan Singh.
Ludhiana police, however, said that an investigation has been launched into the incident.
