Victim of Badals’ vendetta politics: Mohkam

The Khalsa Action Committee chairman Mohkam Singh, who has been released on bail after 17 days of detention,on Monday alleged that he was a victim of “vendetta politics being played by the Badals”.

The Khalsa Action Committee (KAC) chairman Mohkam Singh, who has been released on bail after 17 days of detention,on Monday alleged that he was a victim of “vendetta politics being played by the Badals”.

“I am not scared of the state’s dirty tricks and will continue to serve the Panthic cause with more zeal and determination,” he told the media at the Dal Khalsa office here. Mohkam alleged that the “police used the newly appointed SAD general secretary, who defected from another Akali outfit,to trap and arrest him on March 28”.

He described his detention and that of other Sikh leaders as unwarranted and against the spirit of the law and constitution. “We became victims of vendetta politics being played by the Badals. The Akali government undermined the supremacy of the Akal Takht Jathedar by ignoring Gaini Gurbachan Singh’s call to release all political prisoners detained in the wake of Punjab bandh,” he said.

He also blamed the BJP leadership in Gurdaspur for “engineering the communal clash” in the town on March 28 and 29. Mohkam took strong note of Thapar University’s resolve to withdraw the 50 per cent quota for Punjab students in undergraduate engineering students. He further said that successive governments were responsible for not providing quality education to the youth of the state.
