A cement-laden truck-trailer overturned on the Airport Road near Sector 70, causing a massive traffic jam. There were no casualties or significant property damage, but the truck driver sustained minor injuries, police said.
Upon receiving information, the traffic police arrived at the scene and restored the traffic.
As the truck overturned, the cement bags spread across the road.
“I was on my way to Rishikesh with cement from Ropar. When I reached near Sector 70 on the Airport Road, a motorcyclist suddenly appeared in front of my truck. In an effort to avoid hitting the motorcyclist, the truck lost control due to the heavy cement load and overturned,” truck driver Manoj said.
Seeing diesel leaking from the truck’s tank and spreading on the roadside, children at the site began collecting the fuel in bottles.
