Get set to burn some rubber with MTV’s Stunt Mania

Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of the window,” before Ashish Patil,GM MTV India and Senior VP Creative and Content, kick starts the proceedings for the day,he vrooms back to reference point – ‘the need and passion for stunt biking.’ “Youngsters today want to live life on the edge. Be it gaming, surfing, chatting, working… they are all on the lookout for adventure, action, thrill, and most importantly, fame and popularity. We’ve been delivering the same through our other programmes like Roadies and Splitsvilla, but this is something that goes beyond all the back-biting,room reality, groupism and dirty politics. This is a real sport where only your guts and talent is put to test. This is the baap of biking,” Ashish clears the road for their next channel driver – Pulsar MTV Stunt Mania. For all those who want to be the crowned Stunt God of India, this is your chance to gear up and burn some rubber. But first,as the channel’s a staunch believer and supporter of the democratic process,it’s thrown open the adventure to both boys and girls. As for the format,“it will have ten of India’s most passionate bikers perform stunts on their Pulsar’s in a reality TV format,in front of a live format, and they’ll be learning it all from none other than stunt master Alan Amin,” Ashish informs about the auditions this Sunday. “Be it a basic wheelie,stoppie,tanl,flamingo,12 o’clock wheelie, burnout, frogger, rolling stoppie…it’s going to be one heck of a ride,” adds Alan, stressing on safety first. “It’s going to be shot in a controlled environment, and for us it’s more about promoting safe biking and safe riding with a dash of drama,” Ashish is also looking at tie-ups with local traffic cops to educate the public on road safety. “Unlike other shows, here, the bike is a part of the cast,it’s very much in the foreground,” Ashish adds about a Rs five lakh prize along a customized Pulsar for the ‘Stunt God’ and part in a Pulsar TV commercial! “Why ride when you can fly?” he winks,as he moves on to his other channel drivers including the very vocal Splitsvilla and Roadies, and the upcoming The Fast & Gorgeous. “We at MTV are purists. We don’t script or stage anything, the brief to all the contestants is to be themselves. Most of the time,90 per cent of the footage doesn’t even reach the audience – we bleep, switch cameras, freeze it,pixelate it,and I feel that the language on campus is far more colourful than that on Roadies or Splitsvilla. And if you want to check out some serious action, switch to DD where a Lok Sabha proceeding is going on!” Ashish defends his shows, and adds how with them, there is only a suggestion and sense of drama and danger. “In fact,in Splitsvilla,we already have four couples going strong in real life including Param and Shikha,Rahul and Nalini,Mohit and Joanna,” he moves on to The Fast & Gorgeous. “2011 and racing circuit in India will explode, and Formula One is going to be the next thing,” here’s to more action!

Catch the auditions and Ghostriders perform stunts at The Gurukul School,Sector 20 Panchkula on Sunday 11 am. For more info log on to mtv.in.com.stuntmania.
