Technician suspended; probe report had advised only transfer
On the basis of the inquiry report,PGI Administration placed the OT technician Gurpreet Sethi under immediate suspension. Interestingly,he was in fact transferred only yesterday on the basis of the same report to the tetanus ward. ARD later hailed the decision of the PGI authorities in suspending the technician and said that they will get back to work from tomorrow. Meanwhile,the OT Technicians Association,president said, we will wait till the pendency of the show cause notice issued to Gupreet as he has sought 20 days time to reply to it. We have been told that he has been suspended due to previous complaints and not because of the present matter.
Docs on dharna outside Director office
Drama began unfolding in the morning,with hundreds of resident doctors who were on mass CL gathering outside the directors office. Later,these doctors spent the entire day sitting on dharna outside the directors office. Occasionally,the agitating doctors would even raise the slogan We want justice. There was heavy police deployment at the PGI Campus to prevent any clash between the OT technicians and protesting doctors. The doctors were holding placards to demand justice and the cops had a tough time as they all stood guard in the sun,next to the agitating doctors. UT Police ASP Desraj,Sector 11 police station SHO Gurmukh Singh and others tried to negotiate with the agitating doctors but in vain.
