Tarunpreet anchors MCA to comfortable win

Shri Shri Academy opted to bat first and posted a total of 155 runs for the loss of four wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Sagar top scored with a fluent knock of 63 runs off just 39 balls. Gurdeep contributed 24 runs off 17 balls. Prabhav claimed two wickets for 34 runs. Chasing a target of 156 runs in the alloted 20 overs,MCA Mohali reached the target for the loss of only one wicket. Tarunpreet played a brilliant knock of 65 runs off 57 balls. Shubham chipped in with 42 runs off 38 balls. Gurdeep claimed one wicket for 13 runs.

In the second match of the day,Mount Carmel School,Sector 26,scored a 47-run win over CL Champs. Mount Carmel School won the toss and posted a total of 117 runs in 20 overs while batting first. Yogesh top scored with 60 runs off 47 balls. Abhishek Mehta claimed four wickets for 17 runs. Chasing a target of 118 runs in the allotted 20 overs,CL Champs were bundled out for a total of 70 runs in 19 overs.

Yash stars in Hansraj Academy’s title triumph

Panchkula: Riding high on Yash Kapila’s superb all-round display (3 for 18 and 64 runs),Hansraj Cricket Academy,Sector 6,thrashed DAV Public School Cricket Academy by eight wickets in the final to win the First Smt.Kaushalya Devi Memorial Inter Academy Under-15 League Cricket Tournament played at Hansraj Public School Cricket Ground on Sunday. Batting first,DAV Public School Academy posted 138 in 24.3 overs. Abhishek Thakur top scored with 56 runs,while Shubham Jand and Abhishek Sharma chipped in with useful knocks of 27 and 18,respectively. Yash Kapila and Shikhar Dhyani took three wickets each. In reply,Hansraj Cricket Academy made 142 for 2 in just 18.3 overs. Yash smashed the DAV bowlers all over the ground to raise his half-century and remained unbeaten till the end. Shikhar Dhyani made 23 runs. Meanwhile,Abhishek Thakur of DAV,Sector 15,Chandigarh,was declared the best batsmen of the tournament,while Rajat Sanduja,also from DAV-15,Chandigarh,bagged the best bowler of the tournament award.

Delhi university win title

Chandigarh : Delhi University claimed the title with a 2-1 win over Jamia Milia Islamia,New Delhi in the final of the North Zone Inter-University Badminton (Women) Championship for the session 2010-11. In the first match of the tie,Diksha of Delhi University lost to Mohita of Jami Milia Islamia 7-21,8-21,14-21. In the second match of the tie,Diksha and Sheetal scored a 21-14,21-17 win over Mohita and Rachita of Jamia Milia Islamia. In the third encounter of the tie,Sheetal scored a 21-14,21-16 win over Rachita of Jamia Milia Islamia. The third place was claimed by hosts Panjab University who scored a 2-0 win over GNDU.
