A day before Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar is scheduled to hold a meeting with his Himachal Pradesh counterpart Sukhvinder Sukhu on Monday, state’s former CM and leader of opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda Sunday accused Khattar of trying to deviate from the SYL canal issue.
“The government is misleading farmers and the entire Haryana on the issue of SYL. The decision has already been given by the Supreme Court in favour of Haryana. It is the responsibility of the government to implement this decision”, Hooda said.
“BJP has a government in both Haryana and the Centre. Despite this, the decision of the Supreme Court is not being implemented. Now to complicate and delay the matter, it is being said that SYL water will come to Haryana via Himachal. The question is why BJP-JJP is not filing a contempt case in the Supreme Court? Why are they talking about bringing Haryana’s water through the SYL canal built in Punjab? Why does the coalition government always keep silence on the rights of Haryana,” Hooda questioned.
Interacting with the media persons, Hooda also expressed condolences on the train accident in Odisha.
He paid tribute to the deceased and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. Hooda also urged the government to provide all possible help to the victims and demanded compensation to the families at the earliest. Along with this, he said a high-level inquiry is needed into the matter so that such incidents can be avoided in future.
