Sukhbir calls for police infrastructure upgrade

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said on Tuesday that to deal with tech-savvy criminals,police infrastructure has to be upgraded.

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said on Tuesday that to deal with tech-savvy criminals,police infrastructure has to be upgraded. Speaking after distributing prizes for inter-district and inter-battalion competitions held by the Punjab Police,the junior Badal said criminals were becoming technically very proficient and it was imperative to equip the force with ultra modern technology and weaponry to outsmart them.

Sukhbir said one way to tackle crime was community policing and proposed that the Police Suvidha Kendra should start functioning in an efficient manner by March 31,2011.

Among districts,Roopnagar was adjudged best followed by Faridkot and Moga. The Seventh IRB at Kapurthala was adjudged the best battalion. Noorpur Bedi,Sultanpur Lodhi and Sarabha Nagar (Ludhiana) got the first three positions among police stations.
