Ab ki baari…slogan ki baari: How campaign one-liners catching up in Chandigarh

Among interesting one-liners by the Congress which are majorly chanted during their rallies are: “Takth badal do, taj badal do, beimaano ka raj badal do; Jeetega bhai jeetega is baar Manish Tewari jeetega; and Ab ki baari Manish Tewari…. are some of the key slogans that have been made by the IT cell of the party.”

Karanbir Singh, who supervises the social media team of the Chandigarh Congress, told The Indian Express, “The campaigning strategy is multifaceted. In order to connect with the masses, innovative and catchy slogans have become an essential part of our campaign. Some of the catchy slogans, logos and songs that have been incorporated in our campaign include “Abki Bari Manish Tewari”, “Takht Badlo Taj Badal do Beyimano ka raj badal do”; “Jab jab zulmi zulam karega sata ke galiyaron se, chapa chapa goonj uthega inqalab ke naro se“; “Tewari teri soch pe, paira deynge thok ke”;

“Manish Tewari ki awaz, Chandigarh ka ho vikas“; and “Pragati ki tayari, abki bari Manish Tewari”.

Congress president from the city H S Lucky said, “Usually, these one-liners strike a chord with the residents, and these touch you so deeply that one retains and takes it back home as well when heard. The one-liner slogans sum up the entire campaign.”

These can be found written and sung during videos which are being played in the background as Tewari meets and interacts with people. Not just this, a singer has also composed a song for Tewari’s campaign which will be released soon after his nomination.

For BJP candidate Sanjay Tandon, a song in the tune of famous folk song “Lamborghini” has been sung which has been composed and written by a professional singer.

His son Saraansh Tandon while speaking to The Indian Express said, “We have our friends who themselves volunteered that they have made songs for dad’s campaign and we have released two as of now. Another one is in the pipeline.”

The song in the folk song tune says, “Sanjay Tandon de naal judo….BJP nu vote dedu…te vikas di dor fado…pehli june nu polling hai….Tandon apna neta hai..chandigarh ka beta hai….”

Similarly another song, released says, “Mere sapno ke MP ab aayenge… Chandigarh ki shaan badhayenge…Chandigarh ka maan badhyaenge….Sanjay ji hamare MP ji….”

Other than this, interesting one-liner slogans have been made.

“Seva Chandigarh ki, zimmedari Sanjay Ki, Guarantee Modi ki and Sansad nahi sevak chune and Vikas ka double engine, Delhi mein Modi Chandigarh mein Tandon,” have been made.
