The SJVN Limited, a Navratna central public sector enterprise, has extended support to the Municipal Corporation of by providing two electric solid waste management vehicles, reaffirming its commitment to sustainable development and environmental responsibility.
The vehicles were flagged off from the Mall Road in the presence of Shimla (Urban) MLA Harish Janartha, SJVN director (personnel) Ajay Kumar Sharma, and Municipal Commissioner Bhupender Attri, along with senior officials of SJVN and Shimla MC.
Sharma said that SJVN has contributed Rs 25.44 lakh to the civic body for the procurement of the two eco-friendly vehicles. “These EVs will strengthen Shimla’s cleanliness drive by ensuring zero-emission garbage collection and contributing to improved air quality,” he said.
The initiative forms part of the ongoing Swachhta Hi Sewa Pakhwada 2025, celebrated under the theme Swachhotsav – Clean Green Festivities. It focuses on promoting eco-friendly and zero-waste celebrations as a pillar of the campaign.
The ninth edition of Swachhta Hi Sewa, which began on September 17 and runs till October 2, is aligned with the Swachh Bharat Mission. The 15-day drive aims to mobilise citizens nationwide towards collective action for cleanliness and sustainable waste management.
