The Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has arrested a shooter from the Mohali area, identified as Vipin Kumar, a resident of Bassi Mudda, Bagpur Mandir, Hoshiarpur.
The police said that Vipin was involved in a murder in Una, Himachal Pradesh, and was in touch with his handler based abroad. During the operation, the police also recovered a .32 bore country-made pistol along with six live cartridges from his possession.
According to a senior police officer, preliminary investigation has revealed that Vipin Kumar was one of the main shooters in the murder of Rakesh Kumar, alias Gaggi, at Khwaja Basal village in Una district. The killing was the direct fallout of an ongoing gang war between foreign-based gangsters Laddi Bhajjal, alias Kunner, and Monu Gujjar (Ravi Blachauria gang) on one side, and Babbi Rana (Sonu Khatri gang) on the other.
The deceased, Gaggi, was known to be an associate of Babbi Rana, a close aide of gangster Sonu Khatri.
