The Shaheedi Yatra organised to mark the 350th Martyrdom Day of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh guru, will enter Punjab’s Kapurthala district on Friday afternoon via the Goindwal Sahib Bridge. The martyrdom day falls on November 25, but various commemorative events have already been underway across several places since mid-October.

The district administration has made robust arrangements to welcome the yatra as per the Punjab Government’s directions, said Amit Kumar Panchal, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Kapurthala, who also reviewed the yatra’s route and other preparations along with other officers. A police contingent will present a Guard of Honour to the yatra at the entry point in Kapurthala.

Appealing to residents to join the historic Shaheedi Yatra and seek the blessings of Guru Sahib, the DC informed that after entering from Goindwal bridge, the yatra will pass through Mundi Morh, Uchha village, Pravez Nagar, and Kapurthala bus stand before proceeding towards Kartarpur. Arrangements for langar have been made at Mundi Morh, Uchha, and Kapurthala bus stand.

The district authorities also reviewed arrangements related to parking, traffic management, provision of drinking water, and other facilities. Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC- Development) Varinderpal Singh Bajwa, ADC (General) Navneet Kaur Bal, Superintendent of Police (SP) Gurpreet Singh Gill, and officers from other departments were also present during the review.

On Saturday, the yatra will start from Jalandhar district, pass through Phagwara, and proceed towards Sri Anandpur Sahib, officials informed.

The Punjab government has declared the period from October 25 to November 30 as Shaheedi Smaran Maah (Martyrdom Remembrance Month) to mark Guru Tegh Bahadur’s 350th martyrdom anniversary. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had earlier announced that four major nagar kirtans will culminate at Sri Anandpur Sahib between November 20 and 25.
