The Haryana Police on Wednesday arrested seven persons, including three main accused, for their alleged involvement in the gangrape of a 16-year-old Dalit girl in Hisar’s Dabra village. While three were arrested from Uttarakhand for being involved in the gangrape, four persons were held on charges of harbouring the accused. With these arrests, the police have so far arrested nine people in the case, including five accused.

The three main accused, who were arrested on Wednesday, have been identified as are Vikas,Rajkumar and Pawan. Two others,Seetu and Sunil, were arrested earlier this week.

While addressing mediapersons,Director General of Police R S Dalal said: “We are ensuring that all accused are arrested at the earliest. It was an unfortunate incident, but we assure the victim’s family that all accused and those helping them in evading arrest will be arrested and dealt with sternly. So far,we have arrested nine people, including five accused.”

“We will also request the Hisar sessions court to hold the hearing of this case on a daily basis through a fast-track court,so that the trial could be completed within three months. Whoever is involved in this gory crime, will not be spared at any cost,” he added.

Dalal said Hisar SP B Satheesh Balan has been directed to approach the district and sessions judge with a request to constitute a fast track court so that a decision could be taken in the case within three months to provide timely justice to members of the victim’s family and punishment to the accused. The victim’s family has been provided security,he said.

On September 9,the 16-year-old Dalit girl was gangraped allegedly by eight youth, while four others recorded the entire incident on their cellphones and then circulated the MMS in Hisar and other areas of Haryana. Facing humiliation, the victim’s father committed suicide on September 18. It was only after five days of the suicide that the police started arresting the accused and the victim’s family agreed to claim his body and perform the last rites.

“Two of the accused,Seetu and Sunil are already in police custody and are being interrogated to ascertain the whereabouts and identities of rest of their accomplices,” a senior police officer said.
